Visiting the Ashram
Spiritual seekers are most welcome to visit the Ashram. We have designed the daily schedule and seasonal programmes to make the Ashram available as much as possible to visitors, while respecting the silence and solitude of the resident monastic community.
Please note: We kindly remind you that we cannot accept unplanned visits outside of the times specified below. Also, due to the limited number of rooms at Ajatananda Ashram, which are reserved for full-time members of our monastic community, we are not able to provide accommodation for visitors, participants or volunteers. Since we receive a large number of requests for accommodation, we kindly ask you to consider this before contacting us. We appreciate your understanding.
Opening Times
During its opening seasons in February-April and October-November, the Ashram opens its doors every day (except Thursdays and Fridays) at the following times:
- 16:00 – 17:30 for Open Satsangs
- 19:00 – 19:45 for Evening Meditation
Aside from these daily activities, the ashram also hosts periodic non-residential Satsang Retreats and other events. See the Calendar for more information.

Find Us
Ajatananda Ashram is located on the bank of the Ganges in Tapovan, which is about 4 kilometres northeast of Rishikesh in the district of Tehri-Garhwal (Uttarakhand). The ashram is a 5-minute walk from the Laxman Jhula bridge (follow the upper path behind the German Bakery, which overlooks the Ganges). The Ashram is upstream, at the very end of the path, which turns left towards the small village.
